When I started the publishing journey, I assumed traditional publishing was the way to go. I threw myself into writing queries and researching the agents that would most likely represent me. Two months in, I realized traditional publishing was not what I expected.
I wanted to publish traditionally because of three things:
- Financial reasons
- Marketing
- Pride
Yet after countless moments in prayer and conversation with my husband I realized, those hurdles were not as big as I originally believed. I found out quickly that traditional publishers were still going to expect me to do the heavy lifting when it came to marketing, so I could strike that off my list of benefits. Then my husband and I started researching affordable print options, and found solutions that felt comfortable to me.
And finally, I realized that I’m not writing a book for a publisher to be impressed – I’m writing for you!
You’re the person who is going to pick up my book and fall in love with my characters and story. You’re the person who is going to invest in me to see if my writing appeals to you. You’re the person I hope to inspire to have bolder faith while giving you all the *feels*
So thanks for sticking around! I cannot wait to publish my debut novel and finally get it in your hands!
